Meet Benedikt: Our Founder & Antwerp-Trained Expert

Born and raised in Austria, with Congolese roots, Benedikt possesses a deeply personal dual connection to the diamond world. While his professional mastery was forged in the historic diamond district of Antwerp, Belgium—where he trained in gemmology, precision microscopy and rough crystal morphology—his soul belongs to the riverbanks of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

This unique heritage inspired him to found Benedikt Diamonds and pioneer The Stone Story. Frustrated by a secretive industry that separates a gemstone from its human origin, Benedikt uses his native roots to source directly from artisanal mining communities in Africa, cutting out exploitative middlemen to pay a price that sits 30% over the market value of the rough diamond.

Every custom piece includes a dedicated Origin Booklet detailing your diamond's physical transformation. Inside, you will meet the exact artisanal miner who carefully unearthed your stone, view its original rough geometry, and discover how your investment directly uplifts their family's standard of living.

"From the riverbeds of my ancestors' homeland to our showroom in Vienna, your diamond carries an unbroken promise of ethical transparency and humane prosperity."

Demystifying Diamond Anatomy

An Antwerp-trained perspective on value, light optimization, and crystal geometry. Select a dimension below to explore your diamond’s key grading characteristics.

1. Carat

Benedikt Diamonds Carat Size Guide

Carat measures a diamond's absolute physical weight. Because price scales exponentially with weight, understanding the relationship between raw millimeter face diameter measurements and carat weight ensures strategic budgeting.

2. Cut

BD cut guide

The single most vital factor driving a gemstone’s brilliance. An Excellent or Ideal cut properly contains and reflects internal white light reflections and fiery rainbow dispersion, preventing light leakage through a shallow or deep base.

3. Color

BD color guide

The GIA color matrix assesses trace nitrogen elements on a scale from D (completely colorless white) down to Z (distinct tint). Sourcing near-colorless stones offer exceptional optical clarity and value when paired with warm precious metals.

4. Clarity

BD clarity guide

Clarity maps internal microscopic characteristics formed deep inside the earth over millennia. Working with VS-tier diamonds guarantees your stone remains clean to the naked eye while bypassing the premium of top flawless tiers.

Natural Fancy Color Spectrum

BD fancy color guide

When natural structural variations or trace mineral elements alter a crystal lattice, it transitions beyond the colorless Z-scale into the rare territory of Fancy Colors. Hues range from highly sought-after Canary Yellows to extremely scarce, prize-tier Pinks, Greens, and Blues.

Fancy Color Intensity Scale

Unlike classic stones, value within color gemmology scales with saturation. Grading transitions from subtle Fancy Light pastel tones up to the rich saturation benchmarks of a standard Fancy or Fancy Intense. The pinnacle of value relies on the maximum tone brightness of a commanding Fancy Vivid or the velvety depths of a vibrant Fancy Deep stone.

Bespoke Structural Outlines

BD shape guide

The outline configuration dictates the ultimate design direction of your piece. From classic Round Brilliants and Ovals to rare antique cuts like the Flanders or Flanders Rose, choosing the perfect silhouette allows us to match the jewel's overall fire directly with your personal narrative style.
